About us
Hi, my name is Marie. I grew up with grandmothers who were artist and spent lots of time painting, sewing and crafting. I always found peace when creating with them and enjoyed the special time we spent together.
When starting a career in recreational therapy and program planning for residential care facilities, I found out just how amazing art and creating can be for the creator and those around them. I have worked with all ages and abilities of people in education and recreational settings, and found that the most magical things happen when someone is given the chance to create something with a purpose. Whether it be a gift for a loved one, decoration for a neighbor or a handmade card for someone you have never met, the effect of something given from the heart, no matter how small, has a ripple effect of kindness that can improve many peoples lives.
After becoming a mother in 2016, I made the choice to put my career on hold and be home raising my children. While at home we made lots of artwork and creations together. My children and I made it a tradition to give our small masterpieces to neighbors we hadn’t met since moving to a new town. In no time at all our simple gifts of art to our neighbors introduced us to new friends that quickly became more like family. From our gift of art and creations grew a community of people I trust and love raising my children around. My children learned from experience what spreading kindness and generosity felt like in their hearts. The feeling of making and creating something you are proud of and then sharing it with others is something that is best experienced first hand.
As my children are getting older and starting school, I began to think of returning to work and wanted to find a way to be involved and improve the lives of the children and community we live in. I began thinking how wonderful it would be to start a program where people of all ages have access to lessons on how to create meaningful projects that provide exploration of different materials and mediums, and result in something they can share with family, friends or members of the community.
I’m a believer in what’s given from the heart reaches the heart and I hope with these art sessions we can help the Kindness Circle grow and create a more connected, creative, kind, thoughtful and beautiful world for all to live in.
Every art session is passed down from Marie’s heart to yours.
